Rengstorff


We utilized a 15’x15’ square slide rail shoring system to remediate soil 20 feet below ground surface. Within each cell we excavated, dewatered, backfilled, and compacted before moving the shoring to the next cell. We removed approximately 1000 tons of soil and 90,000 gallons of ground water. Following these activities the site was closed by the regulatory agency and sold.

We removed a UST estimated to be over 100 years old, removed 500+ feet of asbestos coated pipeline, dug over 30 exploratory excavations under direction from the environmental consultant, and excavated soil contamination associated with a former armory.

 

Coronado School


The project goals included restoring flood flow capacity, and riparian corridor and creek restoration.  The scope included rerouting the creek flows, slope restoration, construction of riffle/pool systems, and revegation.   The project was so successful that the client enhanced the area with trails and educational signage.

Guadalupe River

Guadalupe Flood Control Remediation


In preparation for the construction of a flood control channel for the Guadalupe River by the Army Corps, the Santa Clara Valley Water District required that contamination from industrial operations be remediated. The project included the demolition of five buildings, excavation and disposal of 9,000 tons of Class 1 and Class 2 waste soil, shoring to enable excavation to 25 feet, and complete grading of the property. All work was closely supervised by the environmental consultant.

Community Garden

We restored a small property in quiet residential neighborhood to support construction of a community garden.  The project included removing Class 1 lead contaminated soil.  The project was completed on schedule, under budget, with no neighborhood complaints, and with support from the local residents.

Fremont SVE System

Fremont Soil Vapor Extraction System

WRC performed all three construction phases on this project, beginning with pilot testing the soil vapor extraction system, removal of all underground utilities from the 10 acre site, and installation of the final 71 well soil vapor extraction system. The site is currently being redeveloped for commercial/residential use.

Armory Demolition

Armory Demolition


The San Lorenzo school district leased this property to the California National Guard for over 50 years. After abating lead based paint and asbestos containing building materials, we demolished this largely concrete structure and removed all foundation and footings. The structure included walls up to 18 inches thick, which were originally designed to withstand a nuclear blast within 1 mile of the structure. Following demolition, we graded the site to allow the school district to begin construction. Because we also have environmental consulting capabilities, the client engaged us to assist with the closure of old USTs at the site.
